TheOldRoman
Yep. Two outlines, actually. And it was equally stupid then.I always think of that style as an offset single outline. Either way, it's terrible for the Pirates, and their black alternate jersey (which they freaking wear 80 times a year) is a crime against humanity. As for the Phillies road set, I'm not a huge fan of it. However, I think their stripes have moved past "dated" and are now just "Phillies". They've been wearing this set for nearly a quarter of a century. Nobody else uses thick cuffs or pants stripes like that anymore (the Sox' cuffs are thinner, and they removed the pants stripes because derp). I think the Phillies surely could do better with a road set, but I think this look is perfectly acceptable at this point. The Yankees aways have pretty similar cuff stripes.Yes, the Yankees have had similar cuffs since the '70s, but theirs aren't as wide as the Phillies', and of course, they wear plain pants. TheOldRoman
I saw the Indians-Sox game last night. The Indians jerseys did look navy-er, but they were still way too dark. Also, I absolutely loved the classic '90s Indian set, especially the alternate jersey. However, their blue jerseys haven't been good since then. Even since they removed the silver a few years back, they haven't been that different from the old navy alts. Right now, the only different is the placket piping moved up to the neck. And you'd think that's not a huge difference, but it is to me.Also, Progressive Field seems to have really poor lighting in HD. All Indians home night games seem dreary. BigBubba
Would it kill New Era to allow teams to use their own colours for their caps? It's ridiculous how the Indians had to change their jerseys to that awful midnight navy in order to match their caps. Nobody cares about your humungous-big signature. Cleveland Fan
Do you know that it was a New Era decision to standardize the shade of navy? New Era had made light navy Chief Wahoo caps until this season.Maybe it was the team's call. Also, is it harder to get a shade change on the BP uniforms than the game uniforms (due to MLB/Majestic-mandated BP uniform cycles)? I ask only because the Indians stayed with the lighter navy for the BP uniforms (the cap logo/brim color on the BP cap borders on dark royal blue, in my opinion). TheOldRoman
What he means is, New Era only offers two shades of navy. Either the dark worn by NYY/BOS/ATL, or the light worn by MIL/TB/SD. The Indians wore the dark navy in the '90s, switched to the light in 2003, and then returned to the dark this year.I have a lot of complaints with New Era, but I don't think only offering two shades of navy would be among them. The problem is the freaking jersey is too dark.

Jungle Jim
Hopefully it will look better than last year's model. Why not just wear a flapless batting helmet, like the base coaches do?
SCalderwood
Currently playing in their first road Saturday game of the season, BAL is not wearing their orange alternate. I wonder if this means they are restricting their orange alternate use to only home Saturday games. Personally I would have liked to have seen them continue to wear it on the road for Saturday games. It's a great alternate that mixes things up, and it does not look bad with gray pants and the black-crowned cap/helmet. Usually I tire of alternate jerseys pretty quickly, but that has not happened with O's alternate jerseys, and that is basically because BAL has been terrific about not overwearing alternates - they only wear their alternate jerseys on Fridays (black, both home and road) and Saturdays (orange, and apparently now only at home).Of course, if it was an issue of having to bring too many jerseys on the road (since they already wear their black alternates on the road), I can understand why they might put a stop to wearing orange on the road. FiddySicks
I'm pretty sure the original plan was to wear the orange billed caps with the orange alt, and somewhere down the line they decided to wear the solid primary caps with them instead and leave the orange billed caps to Sunday games. I've seen severa promotional items that have it listed that way as well.I honestly would prefer if they just ditched the Orange billed caps. It wasn't a good look in the 70s, and it still isn't now. sportstar1212
The orange bill caps are completely unnecessary. It's fine to have as a BP cap, but I don't care for them being worn in games.
Gothamite
Hopefully it will look better than last year's model. Why not just wear a flapless batting helmet, like the base coaches do?First base coaches don't have to wind up and throw a baseball at 98 mph. You'd need a chinstrap on those flapless helmets. SilverBullet1929
The new protective cap that Alex Torres will be wearing starting today:Is that literally a regular cap with a protective wrapping around it? Judging by the tiny logo seemingly popping out behind the front padding it sure looks that way.
