Boat logo seems to feature prominently in this teaser, but it strikes me as 1) a little too busy to be a primary logo, 2) too tall to work on a football helmet.

Of course, the teaser definitely doesn't mean the boat logo is moving to primary (or even part of the next identity). Still found it interesting it was included at all.

I still can't look at this logo without getting anxiety over the back pole being somehow in front of the sail.

How was that missed in the design process?

I’ve always thought if you rotate the ship to a profile view there would be three masts. That mast is in front of the sail because it’s the middle one, not the rear.

though it’s a pretty funny allegory for the Bucs if you subscribe to the two mast theory, seeing as how Winston literally just had a 30 TD 30 INT season lol

But there are clearly only two sets of sails.  We're seeing a 3/4 view, where a third mast and set of sails should be clearly visible.

There's just no place for a third set here.

The perspective is off - the bow of the ship appears to be pointing farther to the right than the sails - but even so, there's no way to make your idea work.

The more I look at that ship, the more I hate it.  It's so, so inferior to the original.

The original is suggestive, dynamic, and gives you just what you need, no more.  The replacement is over-designed, fussy, and too detailed.  The silhouette is muddy and hard to read.

All of this is even more obvious when you look at a small size.

Ugh.  What a difference.

"Unique" is one of those words tossed around a lot as though it was a synonym for "good".

It isn't.

That would insinuate I meant it any other way than to establish how different it is from the rest of the league. In fact, I didn’t even share my opinion on the color itself, just that moving away from it would be a bad move.

Yup. The new ship is really bad and such a huge downgrade from the last one. Yet, it’s still the only thing in this current set that’s even half presentable. It has its flaws, but it’s still a decent looking logo in a lot of ways. The rest of that package is an absolute tire fire.

Also, the Bucs keep using this swordy looking font on their twitter feed. I wonder if that’s going to be their new number font.

I always assumed the lower-rear sail attached to the back of the boat on either side, then came up and attached to the center mast from behind, thus explaining it's position behind the center mast.. 🤷‍♂️

If Pewter is anywhere near the Buccaneers New uniforms, it would be an epic fail.

I know everyone has a right to their own opinion and opinions technically can’t be wrong, but.... this is a wrong opinion

I have a feeling they're gonna keep the same colors. Only simplify their uniforms so that it looks more like their SB winning uniforms instead of those weird cuts and to remove that font with 6 outlines.

Good question.

Bizarrely, there seem to be more than a few people who don't see the Seahawks' mess as a mess.

I don't get it either.

It’s really only because we won a Super Bowl in the current set. That’s it. The Seahawks should move back to gray helmets ASAP (and then they can actually wear throwbacks!) and gray pants would be ideal too but for some reason people are in love with the monochrome. But the best combo currently is their super bowl look of blue-white-blue.

To bring it back to the topic on hand, the Buccaneers has a perfectly fine Super Bowl winning set too. It’s time they went back.

I think they've used that "swordy font" for years, at least I feel like I've seen it used by them before now

The hell is with you people and red helmets lately?

I like the SB era pewter helmets personally, I was just saying if they want to make the helmet look like the flag without actually having a flag then red would be the easiest way to do so

I can't help but be excited for this news, they're finally moving on from the hot garbage they have now. But at the same time I can only hope they don't replace it with something that's even worse. I hope they go a more traditional route, simple without a gimmicks. I don't mind what they've done with the Jets and the Jags. I've been a strong proponent of them returning to something similar to their Super Bowl set.

Nike did the current Seahawks and Vikings looks right? How did they get those so right and then give us the Bucs/Jags/Titans looks..

It's the ownership (or whomever in each building is making the decision)
I think those in-house decision makers always get off the hook, despite them probably sharing the majority of the blame.
Each team has the power to reign Nike in. Many didn't. Yeah maybe nike shouldn't be putting stuff forward that isn't great.
But when you get something like "Make it, cool, make it slick, modern, bold" you kinda just have to see what sticks.

I think winning also helps. Seattle had mixed reviews when it got unveiled, but it coincided with the Wilson/Legion of Boom era really kicking off in full force.

Overall I think more teams should either slightly modernize their classic look (Vikings)
or try to make a bold unified vision for the uniform, ...I think the Seahawks fall in this one.

You get into problems when you just throw random stuff together (all the detailing of the titans) or gimmicky (The Bucs' numbers, two tone helmet, like every design decision on the Browns redesign)
