How would that start a trend?

Tom Brady had nothing to do with it.

Tom Brady had nothing to do with Tampa Bay’s design process considering they couldn’t have possibly known they’d get Brady two years in advance.

Brady didnt get the unis in Tampa changed, it was coincidental ...that move was rumored long in advance and probably started the groundwork 2 years prior.

Oh, and hey! If you want to get another laugh, check out THIS gem of an article detailing the NFL and the Swoosh's process behind creating the Snatit's current...things

(Both spoiler AND teaser alert: we very nearly had chromedomes with red flames shooting out the sides...and I wish I was lying. But that should tell you everything you need to know about Nike's "flavor of the moment" design tendencies over the past decade or so.)

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

Although Tom Brady obviously didn’t have anything to do himself with Tampa’s uniform change, I could see how a return to a more traditional uniform and an immediate Super Bowl win might start a trend toward more traditional uniforms for other teams, especially those that “Nike-fied” themselves over the past few years.

However, even if that were the case, we wouldn’t be seeing the effects of that yet, since they just won the Super Bowl less than a year ago, and it takes years to develop a uniform redesign.

Plus, we’ve already seen a trend of returning to tradition even before the Bucs’ Super Bowl win, with Cleveland, New England, and Jacksonville all returning to more traditional looks as well. Here’s to hoping that a team like the Cardinals or maybe even the Titans follows suit.

I’ve always thought the Cardinals should just be the red and white version of the Raiders in terms of simplicity. It’s one of the oldest (if not the very oldest) teams in the league. Treat it as such (well, as much as you can considering they play in a spaceship in the southwest).

I’ve always disagreed with this, which seems to be unpopular. No one in AZ cares about the history they have in Chicago, which is a crappy history to begin with (in terms of play, how are you the oldest team in the league with one championship from the 40’s??). This is Arizona’s team now, and their history in Arizona (for the most part), has ALSO stunk. Going forward, with so much young talent and FINALLY looking like a solid team, it seems better to lean on that and come up with something completely new. Obviously it could look like a total disaster, but I think something a couple notches above the jaguars would look good. Some number outlines, some sublimated AZ flag stuff, yadda yadda. I think the only people who think of the cardinals as a “traditional” team are on this board.

Make them the red version of the Texans, with black or gray trim if necessary.   I agree that they shouldn't look like the football version of an O6 team considering they're in Arizona and play in a space ship, but they shouldn't look like complete clowns either.  A contemporary-dignified uniform would do well, and not clash with the helmet, which shouldn't change.

I think we should talk about the Bengals 2021 redesign as a smashing success.

The base design is great but we also need to give props to the equipment staff in Cincinnati that have consistently made good pairings for each week.

Wearing white socks with the black pants on the road is terrific for starters but also keeping the black socks with the white over white (paired with the black striped pants) and going with orange/black/orange last week have been so satisfying to watch. I even liked it when they went black over black with black socks because it still felt like the right choice with that particular combination.

See, I mildly disagree, perhaps because most of us remember their older simplistic uniforms and despise their current set.
Even if they have relocated a couple of times, they should still embrace their past if they are willing to wear a patch for the franchise's 100th back in 98. it says they embrace it. Not to mention they still do events back in StL to stay in touch with the franchises past.

But I will agree the current Jaguars uniform would be the perfect model for the cardinals' future use since, for one, I doubt the Jags will be using past next year. Two, they could be a modern classic if on the right team and a few minor changes. Jerseys - Cardinal - White - Gray ( desert cardinal.)  instead of black.

It’s amazing how such simple changes make such a big difference. I was pretty meh on the changes at first, because it seemed so minor. But after seeing them for a few weeks, those changes help a LOT. I would still like to see a few more tweaks (I actually DO think they could use more stripes), but even so this is a VAST improvement.

This is sort of off-topic, but I’ve always thought the “red version of the Texans” should be the Texans.

Switching to red as the primary home jersey would do wonders for them, and I’d love to see them try red pants on the road, as well. I even think a red helmet would be interesting and could set them apart.

The point is, I find the navy to be boring for them and brightening their brand up with some more red would really help.

The home white pants are the only downside because the stripes should be colored in on the pant stripe instead of outlined.

Agreed. The failure on having white pants directly tie into the orange or black jerseys is a huge and obvious miss and downgrade this from a smashing success to a solid improvement.

Agreed. I’d opt for a white helmet alternate to do an “Oilers in all but name and logo” thing.

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong, but didn't the Texans initially unveil a white helmet when they were awarded the franchise? I remember playing Madden back then, and they initially included the Texans with a white helmet and generic uniform design. Of course, that's because they had yet to unveil their inaugural uniforms by the time the game was released.
