Here's another oddity...

2012-June-25-12-25-6.jpg

Luke's too good to wear a Bulls helmet on rehab, or he had all of his equipment with him anyway?

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but for the 66th annual old-timers day the Yanks Old-Timers were wearing the the Gray Crown/Blue Bill cap the Yanks wore for the Fenway 100th earlier this year:

Seems strange to me, especially since presumably none of the old-timers ever wore this cap. Maybe they were just trying to clear some old stock?

Anybody else think the Rangers uniforms are a few adjustments away from being really good? Why does it say Texas on the home? I know they love the state they play in, but why not the cursive Rangers script? Why not legible numbers and NOB?

Change the wordmark to the one that matches the "Texas" one, ditch all black and drop shadows, keep the current number font (return the NOB to plain block however) and make it all just blue trimmed in red.

In other words this, which I think I've posted in here already (piping can be added or plain, either way works):

McCall, there are only two small things about your Rangers concept that I would change, but other than that I would say it's an idea look for Texas.

1. I would add some piping on the pants and sleeves

2. To match the scripts, the cap logo should be changed to a T outlined in red instead of red drop shadow.

Other than that, your concept is exactly what the Rangers should look like.

I'd like to see the return of the blue hat with the red T and white drop shadow. I think they wore it like three times from 2001-2009.

That's better what they have now, but still has two major flaws: the black dropshadows and having the red and blue piping touch, which bleeds a lot and looks terrible. McCall's concept is what they should look like, if adopted with Fox's suggestions. As of now, their look is a cluttered mess.

I'd like to see mock-ups of an outlined T. I don't like dropshadows in general, and especially when T is a perfectly symmetrical number, nothing should be added to the letter which skews it off the center of the cap. I have never really paid attention to that until now, but I think the slightly off-center white T is going to stick out to me from now on.

EDIT: Looking it up, the T is centered on the cap, but the dropshadow throws the logo off balance. I think the Rangers could come up with a better T. However, that is the least of their problems.

Here's a 2-minute mock-up:

Anyone else noticing for the first time that the basic shape of the T (w/ no shadow) is not symmetrical after all? The downstrokes coming off the top cross are different widths.

That's something I noticed a few years ago and it bugs me to no end. My high school All Star team used that Rangers logo without the drop shadows and it looked like crap.

At this point, all that I would like to see the Rangers do is replace "Texas" with "Rangers" on the home jerseys and drop the black. I don't get why people want to change the hat logo, especially since the drop shadow looks a lot better than a thin outline on a very thick "T"
