New York Jets unveil new uniforms

Am I the only one around here who thinks this is an upgrade, or at least more suited to 2019?

I actually agree. Tons of hate for these going around but I love the shade of green and the helmets. Looks like the text is curved on the helmet, odd,  when it's straight on the logo. Also would've left the football off the helmet, but that's just me. I am shocked that I don't hate the black unis. I should hate those right? But I don't for whatever reason.

No. It's "Empire Slate-- a nod to the city that never sleeps."

If you pair this with "Comedy Gold"  and "Green With Envy" you'd have a winning color scheme.

Does anyone think a very subtle skyline pattern like the one in the background of the picture will also be on the shoulder stripes? Only reason I bring this up is because the only element I don't like is how plain the stripe looks as a single color.

I feel like there's going to be some sort of a weird element on these we're not seeing from that leaked photo that's going to change how people feel about this. It's either going to be like, oh, that's actually kind of a cool little element there that adds to an otherwise somewhat plain look. Or, what's more likely, there's something going on here with the back of the uniforms that is going to be fully unnecessary and people who like the plain look they have here are going to HATE it. Every single Nike release (and even that Bills release before that) had at least some sort of added "flair" to it, and it's either been ok or annoyingly bad.

Assuming these are the uniforms, it is not all bad, not exciting, but this is the Jets we are talking about.

What I like:

1. Good shade of green

2. Helmet finish is neither matte nor chrome

3. Clean lines, no unneeded piping, yokes, side stipes, etc.

4. Return of the green helmet.

5. It does still align with past Jets identities, not a total fresh start.

6. Number font is solid, and easy to read from a distance.

7. Green and white uniforms are distinct from any other NFL team, and pretty clean overall.

What I dislike:

1. The Jets logo is boring.  Not poorly done, just blah.  Why not add the Jet shape along the top or a small jet inside the ball?

2. The black uniform is completely gratuitous and about 15 years too late to catch the BFBS trend.

3. Could use 1-2 thin white stripes on the green sock, especially when the green pants are used.

4. The NEW YORK on the front does't add anything.  A NY monogram would be cleaner and more in line with the team's tradition.

5. This likely means that the ultra-boring logo with NEW YORK written above JETS and the ball is likely the actual new main logo.

For a team with such a potentially dynamic name as "Jets" they seem to hate anything that evokes speed or movement.

I would honestly give it a B.  It is not an embarrassment like Cleveland or Tampa, not even as bad as Seattle or Arizona, but it is not a "rush out and get a jersey" redesign either.

How much you wanna bet they end up losing the lottery and end up not getting one of those Duke guys? Have they ever properly tanked?

I would laugh my a double crooked letter off.  The Knicks, like the Jets (to tie this all together) can't seem to do anything right...properly tank, properly hire a coach or GM, properly unveil a uniform, the list goes on.

I mean they never accomplished anything in the 80s unis either...at least the SBIII look is associated with SBIII.

I just think there’s value in looking your best.

Problem is they screwed up that look to the point that it no longer looked best.

Obligatory?

I don't get the Roughriders thing. This is an update to the 1990-1997 set and I didn't hear any association to the Roughriders then. So why now.

That's gonna get as annoyingly dull as the practice uniform crap from a year ago.

Enough of this for tonight (early this AM) . . . hoping these are fake.

Most jets are silver.  Wanna make a statement ?  Go black helmets (fighter pilot look w/logo from 80s Jets in white n green or jet from that logo as the logo), silver jerseys n paints with green #s outlined in white  . . . unique, captures jets, "taking flight".

Going to Mets home opener then we'll see what reality's all about with Jets unis.
