Was this pointed out?  Per Uni Watch, the horn was deliberately designed to fit Fibonacci's golden spiral

Yes... in fact, I took a swipe at them for it earlier in the thread. I mean, a design team going so far as to trumpet the fact that a portion of a logo package they created was meant to incorporate Fibonacci's golden spiral is self-reverential press release grandstanding taken to the extreme.

Don’t like the new primary, the colors are good, and I do like the retro vibe of the wordmark. If the new uniforms are good, I could look past the ugly logo. The Rams brand is more about the helmet than a sparingly used primary. I’m a bit worried about the gradient. It doesn’t work on the logo and I’m anxious they’ll force it into the uniforms (helmet or numbers).

I’m looking forward to how they handle the blue helmet. The blue should match the rest of the set but I have a hard time envisioning the Rams with royal helmets. Even in the royal era, they wore navy helmets. I think a happy medium would be a metallic finish similar to the Giants. That finish really catches the light and exposes the vibrancy of the blue but at the same time the darks are really dark. This would be a cool way of “matching” the colors but harkening back to the old days with the navy lids.

Here's my take on the helmet design.

Goat horns and a crescent moon.

They sure did overthink this.

From Rams fans going nuts on their facebook page:

Okay, people need to stop posting this first logo. It reeks of amateurism and a downgrade of the actual logo (which I don't think is that great). The eye placement is awkward, the line are straight on the bottom (and left side) and curved on top, the bezier curve skills of the designer are lacking as seen on the nose, muzzle, and horn, the shading on the eye is inconsistent with the shading on the horns. Overall it takes a design that isn't great but invokes a specific era pretty well, and modernizes it in all the wrong ways.

That second logo is WOOOOOOOF. Let's just throw every idea on the planet in there and have absolutely none of it work. The LA monogram is wonky at best and nearly illegible at worst, random silver, absolutely atrocious line work, jagged lines and shapes all over the place, weird cartoony "outlines." Almost nothing about this would work in actual application.

I haaaaaaaaaate the real logos, but at least for the most part there is overall strong construction to them (the golden ratio in graphic design needs to die though).

I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence!

I've noticed long ago that most "ram" logos are more bighorn sheep than ram.

A ram is a male sheep, ya durn fool!

I took a look at the mothership and saw the new LA monogram was placed near the Giants logo. I'm starting to think that's what they were going for, but someone said

Yeah, none of these concepts people are putting out after the fact, including the recolor of the just ditched ram head logo, are any better than what they came out with.

I really can’t believe the reaction to the primary logo has been this poor. I’m almost scared to admit it for fear of being mocked, but I actually LOVE the new logo. We all hoped they would bring back royal and gold (they did), and anyone with any experience knew that they were going to find a way to incorporate an LA mark into the new logo. I personally think they did a great job with it. And some of the criticism of the new Mark is SO nit picky IMO, that it’s even surprising coming from a place that puts these things under a microscope like we do here.

Sometimes I think people are so fast to criticize things here that we jump all over something just because that’s what we always do and that’s what’s expected.

I dunno. I just flat out don’t understand the hate on this particular logo set. I think it’s great, and is such a huge upgrade from the terrible mishmash of eras they’ve had since returning to LA.

No, but it's better than what it's replacing

I disagree. The ram head logo they came up with in St. Louis was pretty great. That it originated in St. Louis probably means it's irredeemable in management's eyes, but I don't get that. You can commit to the idea that the Rams always belonged in LA (they did) and still admit parts of the St. Louis-era branding were on point.
