....do they slide, ever?

Imagine playing on a hot and humid Houston day where the heat is bouncing back up off the plastic grass. Gross.

I hope they don't play the Rays! 😄

They wont, as long as this remains a spring training jersey we are good.  Arizona and Florida are pretty far apart.

Whoa - there's baseball that doesn't even have dirt?

The Northwoods team that I work for has an all turf field, other than the mound. Sliding is interesting, in that if there has been any rain/mist/fog, you slide much further than under dry conditions.

It's tough to judge a call of a passed ball/wild pitch without dirt around home, since it isn't obvious when a ball is in the dirt without there being dirt to kick up.

It's where I sit.

Cleveland new unis are constantly on sale on mlb shop and fanatics,  only 2019 authentic jerseys to ever be reduced. Only reason i can think of is no one is buying them due to no wahoo on the sleeve. If anyone else have a suggestion for this weird thing, i am all ears!

I used to love buying Indians gear when they had Wahoo but since they started putting out block C stuff I stopped buying.  They should just do a rebrand from scratch; new name, new logo, new colors and new uniforms a la Washington Wizards in 97'.

Never do anything a la the Washington Wizards, that was terrible. They've made it this long being the Indians, the name is here to stay, work around not having Chief Wahoo.

I don't think that "Bullets" and "Indians" are comparable in terms of reasons why a name should be changed.

concepts: washington football (2017) ... nfl (2013) ... yikes

Why even have colored turf around the bases? Just have the bases. It’s not like the area is significant from a rules standpoint.

I guess one plus is that batters can’t dig that annoying hole that so many like to do.

I never understood why the Dbacks used a pitcher's path. They're 90s expansion team, that plays in a roofed venue with a pool in the outfield, and is from a state that's younger than some MLB clubs. They're one of the last teams who can pull of that aesthetic.

That would be a perfect reason for them to rebrand.

After seeing what happened to the Browns when they overhauled their uniforms shortly after Nike took over the NFL and the Cavs’ uniforms once Nike took over the NBA, forgive me for being a little wary of what would happen to the Indians once Nike gets MLB.

Also: There has been talk that the Indians are working on a new secondary mark for 2020, but nothing about a complete overhaul as far as I know.

All-turf fields are an absolute god-send at the high school level. It’s an absolute god-send for us to have a few around to get games in (and I’d rather have played on one as a player than some of the garbage infields we played on).

They always had a problem growing turf in that stadium. Aside from the retro look, it was probably done for maintenance purposes.

Even with the roof, it’s still really hard to grow grass properly at Chase Field. Anything they can do to reduce wear and tear they’re going to do.

Looks like the Brewers have tweaked their alternate navy cap:

Here's the old cap from last year, almost out of stock (only 18 total left) on MLB's online shop:

And here's the new one, put up without announcement:

I think the different shade of navy is probably just a trick of the photo, but you can see that the New Era flag is now gold, and - best of all - white webbing!  That's bothered me since the cap was introduced back in 2016.

Now if we can just get Majestic or Nike or whoever to fix the sleeve patch:

The Brewers still have terrible uniforms, but we can fix them one small step at a time.

I still don't understand why the white webbing is "correct." Shouldn't it be transparent? Or yellow to blend into the background? I get it's a glove, but baseball gloves don't have white webbing. Please help me understand this.
