Grand slam: Chargers, Bucs

Birdie: Browns

three-pointer: Colts

shootout loss: Falcons

gutterball: Patriots

Quoting just because I love the jump from sport to sport by @Sport

Off topic - there are times that a gutterball is a preferable option to 'not a gutterball', which is fitting as it relates to these Patriots' uniforms. They are bad, but could have been worse.

It's where I sit.

I like them

They fill out the helmet. That curved bolt going over the top. It was originally there in that location because the jersey number was in the middle of the helmet sides and the bolt sort of frames the number. That was the original, intended look for the Chargers

I don't like helmet numbers in general.  They work for Alabama and not really for anybody else.

Buccaneers A+

Browns A

Chargers B-

Patriots C

Falcons F

Bucs, could be even better if they rolled without an alt, but if they had to have one, I don't mind it at all.

Browns, same as the Bucs, but much much worse alt.

Chargers, in a perfect world a revival of the late 90's era would've been phenomenal. These aren't bad though, just fix up the number font.

Patriots, in a word, this set is forgettable. They'll change in 5 years not because its that bad but because it has absolutely no cohesion or character. It could be worse though.

Falcons, there's a lot wrong with this set, a lot, instead of harping on that though, I'll say what they should've done. Vick era, promote the throwbacks, and you're done.

I'm really surprised the general pass being given to the duplicative royal and navy looks. If you have to have one, I feel like you should have to pick one. Otherwise, the Chargers' colors are all possible shades of blue + gold, which is both Chargers and Rams territory.

The powder set is an A+ from me, absolutely. Adding just one of the royal and navy make it an A. But both? Pick a lane, friends.

This is really my only gripe. There's only 16 games and having to wear one over the other means one less game for the other. I think the navy is superb, whereas the royal looks like it was thrown in because someone couldn't make up their mind.

Otherwise, I love everything about this. Love the font, love the color choices, love the yellow freaking pants. Some modern elements, some old elements and very much on brand.

As a Patriots fan, it pains me that they couldn't manage an update the way the Chargers did.

For me, it's not a pass. It's a I'm simply going to ignore them and focus on the outstanding primary uniforms. I'm doing the CCSLC equivalent of this.

These are pretty good!

Im not sure exactly why, but something about this whole unveiling has left me a bit underwhelmed, though. For as bright as their color palette is, I feel like I should be blown away by these. Instead I’m just like, oh. Those are kinda nice. That could be because we’ve only seen mockups so far and haven’t really gotten a good look at them on actual players yet. I feel like mockups, no matter how well done they are, never quite get the whole thing across as well as actually seeing them in the real world.

My two things on this Brandi g that really stuck out to me:

I wasn't so sure about the helmet numbers, but then I realized that they didn’t have TV numbers on the sleeves or shoulders. In this particular instance, that feels like a PERFECT solution to that issue. Well done, bolts.

I absolutely and fully 100% DESPISE those gold pants. Gold pants have NEVER worked for the Chargers, and the combination of white helmet, powder jersey, and gold pants is vomit inducing, and always has been. That particular color combination IMO is the downright ugliest uniform combo any team in the history of the NFL has ever worn. It sucked back in the 60s/70s, and it’s even worse now. Banish those pants to hell and you’ve got a really good set here.

Dare I say this is a perfect update? I absolutely love the 4 main uniform combos, the return of gold pants is a gorgeous sight, especially now that it’s paired with the yellow facemask.

The removal of the panels is a welcome change, as it allows the bolts themselves to be the stripe. I even like the helmet numbers, as it fills in the space that the bolt leaves since it’s so high on the helmet.

The Color Rush sets are both unnecessary, but if I had to keep one it would definitely be the navy, as I like the neon “Hollywood Nights” sort of feel it has. As others have said, royal is just way too close to the Rams.

I couple of minor things: I would have liked to have maybe seen the new wordmark below the collar, but not having it is fine. I also miss the yellow stripe in the middle of the sock, but that’s super miniscule.

It’s also interesting that the number font is quite literally an italic version of the Vikings font, but I think it works. The italics evoke speed well which is a perfect element for the Chargers to subtly evoke.

Overall I’d give this another 10/10, which is saying something for this year of NFL redesigns. This ranks right up there along with the Vikings, Dolphins, Bears, and 49ers as one of my favorite uniforms in the NFL.

In a world where the Chargers did too much, it seems like the Pats kind of quit a quarter of the way through the design process.

Why are either of these a bad thing? Both are nods to past generations while still having the same general design as all the other uniforms, and will probably be worn once a season each, if that.

I love it too. Don't fall into the forum's peer pressure. It's sweet and evokes the Chargers us millennials grew up with.

If rumors are true I'd love to see that navy set with a navy helmet in 2021. I'd rather not see it with the white helmet unless there's a pair of white pants that go with it.

They have at least six different uniform sets (mono blue 1, mono blue 2, powder/yellow, powder/white, white/white, white/yellow). What if they don't leave it at that? What if they do royal/yellow? Or navy/white? Or navy/yellow? Or navy/royal? What's keeping them from doing so?

But beyond that, I don't really respect a design choice of "let's do everything!' It's kind of like this. If your uniform palette is everything, you kind of don't really have anything.

It's almost like color rush or any Nike alternate are necessary evils at this point. It seems like every team has to have one now so I choose to plug my ears and close my eyes to them as well.

If there's one thing I don't like about the new jersey/uniform, it would be having no wordmark. I liked seeing the wordmark below the collar of the jersey.

Their uniform palette isn't everything, though. This is their uniform palette:

One uniform set is going to be the designated favorite for home and away, with occasional switching of pants that many teams do. They also essentially have two Color Rush uniforms instead of a Color Rush uniform and a throwback like many teams have. And in general those alternate uniforms get worn once a season. I agree that it would be disappointing if they started wearing Navy Blue all season again, but there's no reason to believe they would do that. Powder Blue is front and center in this unveiling.

"Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"

I'm joking, of course, but the Colts managed to launch a new uniform without color rush. Same with the Pats. Doesn't seem exactly fair to rate something by excluding what you don't like.

In my opinion, the Powder Blue-over-White Home and White-over-White Away combinations immediately become the two best uniforms in the National Football League. Sleek, clean simplicity that balances respect for the team's history with modern design. Perfection.

The Powder Blue-over Sunshine Gold Home and White-over-Sunshine Gold Away are fine as occasional alternates. I don't think they're at all necessary, but they're the very definition of tasteful restraint when one considers the sort of overthought, overwrought garbage that other NFL franchises routinely roll out.

The Color Rush uniforms are, as is the norm with said outfits in the league, completely unnecessary cash-grabs. They're simply gimmicky vehicles for selling product. Nothing more, nothing less. Neither one comes close to equaling the excellence of the Powder-over-White and White-over-White combos. As far as I'm concerned, the less seen of them, the better.

Ugh I hope not.  Keep those darker blues to a minimum.
